About the Role
We’re seeking a Data Engineer to architect the backbone of our analytics systems. This role isn’t just about pipelines and performance. It’s about creating a foundation that enables teams across the world to ask better questions, move faster, and make smarter decisions.
You’ll lead the buildout of our data warehouse and associated pipelines, working closely with developers to ensure seamless intake and processing of metrics from across our products and services. You’ll also help shape the way we think about data as a company. That includes defining best practices, guiding how we structure and govern information, and laying the groundwork for everything from reporting to AI. If you're looking to build something essential and help define how it grows, we’d love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a scalable and secure data warehouse, optimizing it for performance and growth.
- Design and implement efficient ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with software developers and product teams to intake, structure, and leverage new data sets effectively.
- Create data models and schemas that support analytics, reporting, and future AI/ML initiatives.
- Establish best practices for data collection, governance, security, and compliance.
- Create monitoring and alerting for data ingestion pipelines to ensure reliability, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Document data architecture, decisions, and workflows to promote transparency and team knowledge-sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data warehouses from scratch.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS (e.g., Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena) or Google BigQuery (experience with both is a strong plus).
- Advanced SQL skills and strong proficiency in data modeling for analytical use.
- Experience designing and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines for high-volume, real-time, or near-real-time data.
- Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and security best practices.
- Comfortable with scripting languages like Python for data processing and automation tasks.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, compliance (GDPR/CCPA), and secure data handling best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Must be willing and able to work on-site at our Chicago office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, PowerBI).
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming data (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub).
- Enthusiasm for helping to mentor others and build a supportive data community.

Here’s what you can expect:
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Stay healthy with access to robust health insurance plans, including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family. Our plans are designed to offer flexibility, affordability, and access to top healthcare providers.

- Eligibility: Available to employees aged 21 with one year of service.
- Employee Contribution: 1%–98% of W-2 wages, with contributions always 100% vested.
- Employer Match: SuperFile matches 100% of the first 1% of compensation and 50% of the next 5% of compensation. Safe Harbor contributions will be 100% vested after two years of service.
- Accrued PTO: Your PTO is earned incrementally with each pay period, so you build up your time off throughout the year. This means you’ll have access to your earned PTO as soon as it accrues, allowing you to plan your time away in a way that works for you.
- Earn Up to 80 Hours of PTO Annually: Every year, you’ll have the opportunity to accrue up to a total of 80 hours (2 full weeks) of paid time off. Once you hit the 80-hour maximum, accruals pause until you use some of your available time. This ensures you have ample opportunity to use your time off.
- Start Earning From Day One: No waiting period required — you begin accruing PTO from your very first paycheck, so you can start planning your time off right away.
- Take Time When You Need It: Whether you need a vacation, personal day, sick day, mental health break, or a day to handle personal matters, our flexible PTO policy has you covered.
- Rollover Options: Roll over unused PTO into the following year, ensuring you don’t lose the time you’ve earned.
- Paid Holidays: In addition to your accrued PTO, enjoy 13 paid holidays throughout the year, giving you even more time to spend with family, friends, and loved ones.
